Celebrating service to the community: Jim Knox

September 11, 2021 is a National Day of Service and Remembrance where we remember and pay tribute to first responders and countless others who lost their lives 20 years ago defending our nation’s freedom at home and around the globe. As we go through today, remember, serving others lets us step forward in a spirit of unity, honor, and compassion. No act of kindness is too small.

In honor of this day and to the service that first responders provide every day, DDK would like to celebrate one of our own. Jim Knox, DDK Business Manager for 20 years, has been a member of the Lake Maumelle Fire Department since May 2018. He now serves as Lieutenant.

The LMFD is an all-hazards volunteer fire department that serves the communities of Roland, Natural Steps, Pinnacle, and surrounding areas in West Pulaski County. Beyond their mission of fire suppression and rescue, most calls are medical in nature. As a lieutenant, Jim’s role is to operate apparatus and address the incident at hand in the most efficient way for the best outcome possible for our customers. Usually first on scene, Jim assesses the situation to scale up and call for additional resources, or scale down and cancel those that may be en route.

“I truly enjoy helping people in their time of need. Most people you encounter in this business are having one of the worst days of their lives. At the end of the day this is an extension of my personal mission to be a channel of God’s love. On the lighter side, I enjoy the brotherhood, both specific and universal, that is so prevalent in the fire service. One of the most fun things is the constant challenge to “match wits” with men & women who live a lifestyle where they must think and act quickly. The command staff at LMFD is comprised of some of the best firefighters in central Arkansas. These men are career fire officers at Little Rock and North Little Rock. Their passion and mentorship have been extremely important as I have had the privilege of serving alongside them.”

Jim, from your DDK family – Thank YOU! We so appreciate your dedication and service in all you do!
